More About Chiropractic

Very often people don't understand chiropractic so they are hesitant to believe in the benefits. We have listed some of the most common chiropractic questions we are asked below. If you can't find an answer to your question here, feel free to contact us today.

What is chiropractic?

Chiropractic stresses an overall body wellness. The focus of chiropractic is to locate and help correct spinal problems that are disrupting the controlling nerve impulses between the brain and every cell, tissue, organ and system of your body. This allows proper nerve flow so your nervous system can keep your body functioning at optimal health.

How does chiropractic work?

Spinal bones which have lost their normal motion are restored by a series of carefully directed spinal adjustments. Because the adjustments help restore the function of the nervous system, they can have a profound effect on your overall health without drugs or surgery.

We do not have a set number of sessions you must attend before seeing results. We work with you to create a individualized plan based on your needs, body and pain.

What does the nervous system control?

EVERYTHING!!! The nervous system is how your brain communicates with your body. The nervous system includes your brain, spinal cord and countless nerves that branch everywhere throughout your body.

Who needs chiropractic?

EVERYONE can benefit from chiropractic care. All of us have experienced stress, slips, falls or even auto accidents in our lives. All these events can cause misalignments in your spine impairing your health. Chiropractic is a natural approach to better health that is proven safe and effective for your entire family! What should I expect?

Chiropractic care is like "orthodontics" for the spine. Clinically, repeated chiropractic adjustments re-train the vertebrae, muscles, and ligaments to their proper alignment and range of mobility. Just as the time required for braces to achieve correction depends on the condition of an individual's teeth and mouth structure, the time required for proper spinal alignment to occur depends on the condition of the individual patient's spine, their job duties, their hobbies, their posture and many other lifestyle factors.

Is there a quick fix? Can I get rid of my problem in one visit?

Is there a quick fix? Can I get rid of my problem in one visit?

Does your M.D. ever prescribe you just one pill? Does a physical therapist expect to stretch and strengthen your muscles in one visit? Of course not!

Chiropractic adjustments work just the same. You cannot expect to receive long lasting results with one quick fix. In order to obtain the best long term results, a series of treatments is typically recommended. Throughout your treatment plan Dr. Viehbeck will perform periodic re-evaluations to measure your progress.

Chiropractic results may vary. Some patients enjoy immediate results while others find that their recovery takes several months or longer. Some problems have been underlying for a long time and only recently may have become symptomatic. These long-standing problems are often associated with muscle weakness, soft tissue damage and degenerative changes to the spine. It takes time and dedication to make changes to our bodies.
