Day 9:
While weight loss is not the primary purpose of this program, we have been excited to shred some inches and lose more than a few pounds as a result of the purification program. Dr. Viehbeck has lost over ten pounds and Kelly is right behind him with a loss of 6 pounds and eight inches! Before and after photos will be posted at the end of the program. More importantly, we just FEEL better! We wake up easier, we have far more energy throughout the day, we sleep better, aches and pains have subsided, and we feel rejuvenated. We can think more clearly, multitask better and enjoy life more! I can’t believe how fast the first nine days have flown by.
Day 10:
In addition to feeling great throughout the day without hitting the afternoon slump or craving carbs and sweets, we have both been sleeping much better. We fall asleep quickly, sleep all the way through the night and wake up feeling more rested and refreshed than ever before. It is truly fantastic!
We’re looking forward to adding meat back into our diet tomorrow, Day 11.
Day 11:
Today we reintroduced meat! Three to five ounces of free range, organic meat (when possible) are allowed twice a day starting on day 11. Needless to say, after 10 days of only fruits, veggies and brown rice we were really looking forward to this! We had to have a quick lunch, so we ran over to the Village Burger Bar in Watters Creek and had a delicious salad with grilled chicken. It was so nice to have a different flavor and a new texture. Thanks Village Burger Bar!

Then for dinner we celebrated being half way through the 21 Day Program with filet mignon, roasted asparagus and glazed carrots! Let me say that this way truly one of the best meals I have ever had in my life! Dr. Viehbeck grilled the steaks to perfection and the taste was indescribable… but the meat did upset our stomachs just a little bit, so I think we will stick to free range, organic chicken for the next few days and then try adding beef back again at a later time.
The glazed carrots were fabulous and complimented the steak so well. To make them simply steam organic carrots for about 15 minutes in a saucepan over low heat. We chose to mix the carrots with a little bit of organic butter, raw honey and season with sea salt and pepper. It is really delicious!!
We’re curious to know how others are feeling during their 21 Day Purification Program. If you have started, tell us what has surprised you most, how you’re feeling, or any recipes you would like to share. If you haven’t started yet, tell us what you’re looking forward to or any questions you might have that you would like us to address on the blog!
